Ticked Off

My goal today, was to get a grip on the two-car garage that will be the site of my annual sale, next weekend (and probably the one after that!).  First though, I needed to place the advertising in the local Shopper because today was the deadline. Then, I needed to feed the goldfish and check on the plants in the garden and greenhouse. In the process of pulling a few weeds, I found a morning glory growing in the tomatoes. I don't think they compliment each other, so I had to gently pull the seedling from the bed and find it a new home. Morning glories don't like to be transplanted, or so they say.  I have a container with a bamboo pole teepee that will be great for morning glories, but it needs to be weeded first...

Have you ever grabbed hold of a stinging nettle? My goodness, I didn't see THAT in there.  They call 'em stinging nettles, cause they sting like a bee. ... Hello ..... enough gardening, on to the garage...

I must say, I was proud of myself!  I swept, set up tables, put a few shelves up, burned a bunch of trash, gathered all the plastic bags into one place and cleaned the antique display case.  All with the garage door open keeping an eye on the rock.

Just about time I'd had enough walking on concrete, I noticed our resident deer hanging out grazing on some clover, accompanied by her friend Racquel Raccoon.  I took a few photos and upon reviewing them more closely, I think our girl is pretty darn ready to have that fawn!  I guess it's not uncommon for birthing to occur as late as July in Pennsylvania, but it sure seems late to me. Anyway, the cameras are ready, and the binoculars are on the windowsill. About 8 years ago, I saw a fawn born from this vantage point.  Maybe I'll get lucky again...

The winds are picking up and the sky darkening, rain is on the way.  The deer wandered back into the brush, nibbling on vegetation as she went.  It couldn't have been five minutes later, and the familiar flash of dense black fur grabbed my attention ~ there's a bear outside! With his back to me, of course.

Which bear?? I'm still not sure, but I think it was Buddy.  I haven't seen him in about a week, and it looks like the last of his winter coat is finally shedding.  I sure wish he had friends like the 4 Amigos www.bearstudy.org , because there's a big ole tick on his ear.

I just feel like I want to go out there and give him a good brushing and take that nasty tick off!  Maybe he'll find himself a lady-friend, or a buddy of his own. Wish as I may, I cannot be either ♥

All in all, it's been a great day so far.  See ya on your next meander past, Buddy!!  Tell your friends they're always welcome in this neck of the woods, just as long as they stay out of the garden☺
