Birds & Bees

It's hard to believe, fall is rapidly approaching.  The bumble bees were very busy in the Rose of Sharon today, I wish they would be so active in the squash plants!! In keeping with the theme... here is a bumble bee butt♥ .Speaking of the garden, I fertilized everything with fish emulsion this morning, which brought the turkey vulture in for inspection.  That is some stinky stuff!!!! Of course, Shadow was also outside supervising my efforts, and inspecting the gold fish. They have at least doubled in size this summer, I have no idea what I'm going to do with them after the weather cools down. My measly 10 gallon aquarium would only be large enough for one, maybe two.  There are 5 in the little garden pond.

The most activity today, was certainly that of the hummingbirds.  I have 6 feeders out, and there must be at least a dozen hummers if not more; hard to count when they're buzzing from one side of the house to another.  I put a little video together of two of them vying for their favorite feeder hanging off my living room window ~ about 5 minutes of chatter, complete with the crows calling in the background!

My second trail cam arrived today, so the Bushnell is packed up and ready to be returned. The TASCO is mounted in the same location, we'll see how well that does tonight. I set it for still pictures; it does take 15 second video clips as well but I want to try out the pictures first.  Upon removing the SD card and downloading the action since this morning, I was surprised to see a bear had graced the HRD, albeit very briefly.  Not a yearling, could be the same one that stopped by a couple days ago...

Aside from the crows, bluejays and squirrels, the only critters I saw today were Puff and the twins.  Guess everyone is out there browsing and foraging on the lush growth and abundant berries.  That's always a good thing ...

ancestors sleeping in this land,
I believe that makes you a native to this land.
It has nothing to do with the color of your skin.
I was not raised to look at people racially.
What I was taught is that we're flowers in the

Great Spirit's garden.
We share a common root, and the root is Mother Earth."
